D.A. Hoskins

D.A. Hoskins has created close to forty choreographic works, including commissions for the Elora Music Festival, Pendrecki String Quartet, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, the Open Ears Festival, Dancetheatre David Earle, and Toronto Dance Theatre. He has also created work on young and emerging dancers at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Ryerson University, and L’Ecole de Danse de Quebec. His work has been presented in forums such as the Art Gallery of Ontario’s series Sexuality and Censorship in Art, for a retrospective on artist Barbara Hepworth and a Holocaust Perspective presented by the Toronto Jewish Community Center. His full evening work The Mortality Songs was presented as a fundraiser for the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation. D.A. Hoskins is inspired to create works that challenge the audience with the provocative nature of physical expression. He explores the dance artist as an individual that is defined, reflective and grounded in these seemingly complex and accelerating times. His choreography celebrates a sensual expressionism and liberty in dance. Upcoming projects for D.A. Hoskins include being the artist in residence this summer at the Banff Centre for Fine Arts as the recipient of the Clifford E. Lee award and in August he will be creating a new work for Hubbard Street 2 company in Chicago, Illinois.
