In Memoriam – Rudi Koch |
||
Friends and members of German Carnival, or ‘Mardi Gras’ here in Canada, mourn the passing of one of their most active members for over 40 years. Rudi Koch joined the ‘1. Torontoer K.G.’ in 1964. He soon became a member of the ‘Elferrat’ and became ‘Elferratspräsident’ in 1965. He held this post until 1969. He then became president of the 1. Torontoer K.G. from 1978, a post he held until 1987. In 1992 he joined the ‘1.K.G. Narrenzunft’ in Kitchener until 2000. He became president of the BDKK – the German Canadian Mardi Gras Association – in 1969. He held this demanding position for 20 years. He was voted ‘Honorary President’ for life after he wanted to retire from this very active and challenging position. We still had the pleasure of seeing him and his wife on many occasions during carnival events in the last six years. This is a last Alaaf, Helau and Ahoi, Rudi. We will treasure the memory of your service and the life with us. Dick Altermann and all of Echo Germanica
