July/August 2012 - Nr. 7/8

This city has a multitude of street, art and music fests throughout the summer. I wish I could go to all of them, but it is not possible. We did check out the clubs and our community scene, which also sizzles with activities and will continue to do so throughout the July and August. There is no shortage of entertainment in this our world class metropolis. Unfortunately we do not hear enough of other smaller communities. I wish they would participate more with us in making our culture more known.

Summer Fest at the Danube Swabians

The middle of June offered two club fests on the same day. Since the one at the Swabian Club involved the performances of smaller children we went already earlier in the afternoon to Toni & Inge Baumann with their grandsonsadmire the adorable offspring in performance at the Scarborough Club.

Toni Bauman, president, was there with his wife Inge and all his children and grandchildren, most of them already quite grown up!

Sophie Martin & Aaron Faller, Miss & Mr. DanubeMr. Blue Danube Aaron Faller escorted his Danube Swabian Princess Sophie Marten. They certainly make a nice pair, even on the dance floor.

The children danced and sang themselves into our hearts, as usual.

Since the kitchen has no longer a chef the food was catered by Vienna Fine Foods, and the Ladies Auxiliary had a hand in the desert.

Good-bye

Unfortunately we had to leave and could not see what happened in the evening. I understand it was another success for the club with dance music supplied by the Euro Connection.

Next in the club? The summer picnic! See the ads. Hope to be there with you!

Until next time
