Dear Reader

The New Year started quite normal for most of us except for the unusual warm weather at first that then sent us shivering inside. I can only imagine what it would be like for an animal lost for some reason that was used to have a home. I have to report that there is yet another lovely tom cat hiding on my porch. If I bring him to the Humane Society he likely will be euthanized, as they only find homes for half of the lost animals, so I read. A handsome catThis way many thousands find an untimely death. I somehow do not have the heart to have anything living handed over for death. If you are willing to adopt a handsome cat I would be so happy. He is healthy, looks about 3-4 years old at most, he is neutered and friendly. If you are ready to get this honey of a bear call me at 416-652-1332.

We are having a bit of the winter blues, I admit it, and did not feel like doing too much in the way of work. Surely you will forgive us for being more engaged in hibernating than running around in the cold. If it were possible for us I would camp somewhere warm down south, but due to our 4 cats we cannot. Instead we enjoy a lot of comfort foods and visits to lunch and a movie, hot chocolate and a good book, and always a cuddly cat nearby to smooch. Besides, in the harsh of winter we need to feed the other creatures too, the birds and squirrels and even the racoons, because they do not go away if you do not provide an offering occasionally. They go into the garbage and make a mess and the neighbourhood unsafe for domestic animals. I prefer my neighbourhood menagerie well fed and healthy.

Besides the urge to hibernate we also felt a lot like music and went to a couple of concerts, which abound at this time of year.

We also have a lot of catching up to do with our website, which was hacked into or something and we all of a sudden had a big mess on our hands, which we only discovered recently. It is a lot of work to fix it all and bring it back to the life it used to have. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Alongside we are developing another site. Our original site was and now has moved under the same name to a .net address. So you will find our original website now at On the new site ( we are developing a new concept, more modern, more general and inclusive and with blogs and such, hopefully also some social media gadgets. I shall keep you up to date as we go along. I am not quite sure how I will manage all that, being such a dinosaur with this high tech stuff, but learn I must.

In the meantime I hope you stay with us and enjoy what we have to offer. The community has quite a few interesting things going on. We learned that in Oshawa Club Lorely even had a Mardis Gras event. How wonderful! Unfortunately we could not go and no one volunteered a report. Remember, if there is an interesting event in the community and we cannot come you can send in a report and we try and print it, if we have the space. At the very least it will go online for the world to read. This way we will keep our aging and shrinking numbers strong.

Until next time
