Zeitgeist – Sentinels of Time

Under this symbolic heading prolific and multi-talented artist Bernard creates both pictures and poetry of and for the soul.

He has loved wood ever since he was a little boy trying to make a flute out of a hollow branch with his first pocket-knife. He quickly discovered the pleasures of woodcarving and expanded to creating small animals and other objects from roots to the delight of his mother. This love has stayed with him, has grown and he developed it into an art. Forever searching he discovered wonderful wood along the way, which he has successfully used to build cozy environments with for business and private uses, such as bars and restaurants and pubs, as well as recreational rooms in private homes, both in Europe and Canada. Some very old barn wood in Canada particularly caught his interest. It is ideally suited for building warm and homey interiors and for whittling the sentiments of all times into pictures that compliment a variety of decors.

Bernard’s three-dimensional wooden sculptures, captured on a flat surface, reflect rich concepts of past and present. They are accounting for events of historic or cultural significance, or simply a flight of fancy. The use of perhaps 2 to 3 hundred-year-old wood lends stability to our times Restaurant in Germany by Bernardand reflects the Zeitgeist of other places as sentinels of time.

Bernard is willing, able and keen to create more wooden wonders for any lifestyle.
