Current Status
- Orchestra Toronto is a full-sized, community symphony orchestra that
performs a complete range of repertoire
- Orchestra musicians are primarily volunteers who pay a membership
fee to rehearse and perform
- Only the conductor and principal chairs are paid positions
- An 18 member Board of Directors (14 from the community, 4 from the
orchestra) sets and guides the overall direction of Orchestra Toronto
- An annual subscription series (five concerts) is offered at
affordable prices for adults, seniors/students and children/youth
- All concerts take place at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the only
major theatre complex north of Bloor Street and easily accessible by
car, by public transportation and for wheelchairs
- Performances are held in the George Weston Recital Hall, renowned
throughout Canada for its superior acoustics
- Weekly rehearsals take place in the rehearsal studio at the Toronto
Centre for the Arts
Vision/Mission
- Orchestra Toronto is one of Canadas premier community volunteer
symphony orchestras, dedicated to providing affordable family
entertainment, music education and full repertoire in its programs
- Orchestra Toronto strives to be a "family destination" where
generations of families can meet together for Sunday afternoon concerts
of music, fun and education

- Families children, youth, adults, seniors
- Multi-cultural communities
Educational Outreach Program
- Orchestra Toronto welcomes talented high school and university music
students as members
- Students of orchestra members who are professional music teachers
are invited to play as members
- High School music students are invited to sit in on selected
rehearsals for the experience
- An assistant concertmaster fellowship position has been established
and is usually filled by music students from U of T and the Royal
Conservatory of Music
- An Artist-in-Residence program has been established with the
talented and articulate Catherine Manoukian as Artist-in-Residence for a
second season
Orchestra Torontos 51st Season Activities
- Instrument Petting Zoo At the October 23/05 concert: An
opportunity for children, parents/grandparents to touch, feel and try a
variety of instruments
- Musicale, Afternoon Tea and Silent Auction December 4/05, Novotel
Hotel, North York: Proceeds from Auction to benefit Orchestra Toronto
Fund

Financial Status and Support
- Orchestra Toronto is currently in a sound financial position
- Orchestra Toronto relies on the financial support of individuals,
corporations, foundations and government agencies
- Opportunities for sponsorships exist at different levels for which
appropriate benefits are received. Sponsorships include: Season Sponsor,
Concert Sponsors, Media Sponsor, Pre-concert & Intermission Activities,
Student Fellowship
- Other methods of support are gratefully received by individual
donors, corporate donors, in-kind donations, volunteers and program
advertising
