An Invitation

Und morgen wird die Sonne wieder scheinen. Day turns into night and night turns into day. Followed by Éjszaka ("night" in Hungarian). Amid the hustle and bustle of the season, we may also remember what is truly important to each every one of us, like, why is it that every gift I find for everyone, I end up wanting to keep myself?!!! You may think I’m kidding… but I’m not! On the 8th day of Christmas my baby gave to me, a pair of Chloé shades and a diamond belly ring.

Komm, Jesu komm, mein Leib ist müde. My soul is no longer weary. I give thanks for all of the untouchable gifts that touch so deeply. On a personal note, I give thanks to a special Canadian artist and teacher that was lost recently, a musician of the highest order. Thank you Ms. Simmie. On the 7th day of Christmas my baby gave to me, a nice back rub and he massaged my feet.

Can I just tell you, that as a musician, I have no evening time to shop. Why, you ask? In one word: Rehearsals. Rehearsals here, rehearsals there, rehearsals everywhere. You’d think that after so many rehearsals you’d get the picture. I neglected to mention how many ensembles are being dealt with here. Too many! And not enough! On the 6th day of Christmas my baby gave to me,……….with dirty denim jeans.

You know, I’ve gone on more than one occasion to the mall during the day wondering why there are so many people out shopping and looking around. I wondered, don’t these people work?!!! But then again, there I am doing the exact same thing they are! It’s a strange question that answers itself, but then again, doesn’t. On the 5th day of Christmas my baby gave to me, a poem that he wrote for me.

Special gifts that cannot be touched with our hands, but felt in such a way, you may never even know what hit you. On the 4th day of Christmas my baby gave to me, a candlelit dinner, just me and my honey.

One of my treasures is a certain form of communication. To lose it, I can feel lost. Getting it back in full force can be an important tool to my responsibility. Die Stimme. La voix. La voce. On the 3rd day of Christmas my baby gave to me a gift certificate to get my favourite CDs.

Isn’t always great to enjoy complimentary receptions in the company of friends and new acquaintances? Well, you can once again. Monday, December 23, 2002, 7.30pm. Oh yeah, there’s the other small detail of my concert envolved. My newly formed Chamber Singers present an eclectic programme at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor St. W. (Royal York & Bloor). You can even help us pick a name for our ensemble. I did say help, because obviously if we don’t like your suggestion, we’ll just look at you strangely! We are classical artists after all. Whatever that means. We will of course be accepting donations. On the 2nd day of Christmas my baby gave to me, the keys to a CLK Mercedes.

So there you have it. Mystery solved. The point has been revealed. Tomorrow shall be my dancing day. I wish you and your family all the best zu Weihnachten. May Santa be good to you! Alles gute. On the 1st day of Christmas my baby gave to me, quality T-I-M-E.
