We are proud to celebrate our 25th anniversary as a producer of preservative-free rye breads, made from authentic old world recipes and baked fresh daily in Mississauga, Ontario. Kasseler Food Products Inc., a family owned company, was founded in 1978 by Mr. Erich Lamshoeft Sr. He has over 45 years experience bringing Canadian consumers specialty food products from his native Germany and from around the world. The Kasseler preservative-free rye breads are handmade and baked in small batches using natural sourdough, rye flour, sea salt and other fine ingredients. They have a shelf life of three months or more. A special heat-steam process gives our rye breads their long shelf life without the aid of chemical additives, while preserving the goodness of the grains’ natural fibres. Our rye breads are delicious and are healthy, having up to five grams of dietary fibre per single slice (50 gram) serving. We are one of the very few bakeries in North America that steam bakes its Pumpernickel over 18 hours in the authentic Westphalian tradition. Other specialties include our Vollkornbrot -Whole Rye Bread, a wheat flour free bread, our Flaxseed Rye Bread made with whole flaxseeds, and our Sunfibre Rye Bread made with sunflower seeds. Our Schwarzwaldbrot-Blackforest Rye Bread with its double crust is fondly referred to as our "Schwarzenegger" bread - with apologies to Arnold. Our bite-size Party Rye Breads and Cocktail Rye Breads are an ideal match for smoked salmon or specialty meats and cheeses for hors d’oeuvres platters. The preservative-free Kasseler Rye Breads are an excellent addition to any nutritious diet.
