The Future is Looking a Whole Lot Brighter to Most German Citizens

TWIG - The economy is booming and people have something to smile about: German citizens are looking into the future with a reinvigorated sense of optimism, according to a survey conducted by Hamburg-based news- and lifestyle magazine Stern and commercial television broadcaster RTL.

As reported by online newspaper Netzeitung, 40 percent of the survey's respondents believe that the economic situation will improve even further - more than since the last federal election in September 2005. At the same time, 27 percent of respondents believed the economic situation would stay the same and 31 percent believed it would get worse.

This compares positively to figures from last October, when only 22 percent hoped for an improvement and 52 percent feared the economic situation would worsen.

The new survey was conducted from 16 to 20 April using a representative slice of 2,500 German citizens.
