LaserIce Fest Lights Up Victoria Avenue
To include Ice Sculptures, Ice Maze Challenge & Laser
Light Shows
Presented by the Victoria-Centre Business Association
Niagara Falls, ON - The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) is
proud to announce that LaserIce Fest, being sponsored by the Victoria-Centre
Business Association, will occur on Friday, December 3rd to Sunday, December
5th, 2004 along Victoria Avenue (at the top of Clifton Hill).
LaserIce Fest activities will begin Friday evening with the
creation of the first two of 12 spectacular ice sculpture displays.
These two marquee pieces will consist of a stunning "barrel
over the alls" display that people are encouraged to "step into" for a great
photo opportunity, and the re-creation of the WFOL Misty Munchkins Mascot
Team, consisting of Chilly Dog, Crystal Bunny and Cool Cat.
Also, a 1,000 sq. ft Ice Maze Challenge, presented by 105.1
The River, will open Friday at 5 pm providing children and adults the
opportunity to test their skills as they race the clock for the best time. A
nominal entrance fee to the Ice Maze Challenge will be charged with all
proceeds being donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Basket Program,
with the goal being to raise enough money to donate 105 Christmas Baskets.
"Our goal for the Christmas Basket Program is to assist
those Niagara families that would otherwise not have the food and gifts, the
opportunity to celebrate the holidays," stated Mark Hawkins, Director of
Community and Family Services for the Salvation Army. "We are excited to
partner with the Victoria-Centre Business Association and the Winter
Festival of Lights to help make Christmas a special time for those that need
it most."
The LaserIce Fest activities continue into the night as a
laser and pyrotechnic show lights up the night four times each evening.
Watch as the Victoria Avenue skyline is transformed into a dramatic palette
of dazzling colours. The laser and pyrotechnic show is scheduled for 6:30,
7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 pm.
Live holiday music will be performed and maple taffy
concessions will also be on-site to turn Victoria Avenue into a festive
atmosphere of family fun experiences.
"We’re excited to sponsor the LaserIce Fest," stated Frank
LaPenna, Victoria-Centre Business Association Chair. "We wanted to provide
an outstanding event not only for visitors but for the residents of the
Niagara Region and raise funds for a great local cause at the same time."
