Double your November happiness

"Once a year, country comes to the City", or to be exact, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and Royal Horse Show is back at Toronto’s National Trade Centre on the grounds of Exhibition Place. Viewed to be the world’s largest agricultural, horticultural, and equestrian fair, you will have a hard time to get through all of it in a mere day.

But don’t despair. You have 10 full days (November 2-11) to take in beautiful demonstration gardens, countless vegetables and fruits on display, a slur of top equestrian events, a petting farm, cooking demos, the ever popular Celebration of the Dog, carriage races, a huge antique market along with crafts, farm machinery and countless livestock.

Actually I should also mention the many specialty boutiques present. I have found them to be an outright gem for much of my pre-Christmas shopping.

I also recommend taking the whole family, as the Royal Fair is a sure bet to make for memories that will last a lifetime. Whatever the case, whatever your chase, The Royal will not disappoint.

And what always follows The Royal and makes for the most exciting parade of the year? Why none other than the Annual Santa Claus Parade (November 18)!

A favorite with kids of all ages and also a sure sign that the magic season is at hand, the 97-year old parade features marching bands, a whole armada of magical floats, clowns, and, of course, Ol' Saint Nick himself.

Televised live throughout the world, there is just nothing like this Toronto institution. Each year it rekindles endless memories among us older kids and creates brand new ones for a whole army of anticipating faces.

Just as the case is with The Royal, ensure to arrive by TTC. Forget about parking and all that. And definitely do not forget to wear your woolies, as it usually is a cold one by that time of the year.
