December
This is the month for wonders,
for miracles and hope,
it is the time for ponderers
to wish and plan and do.
It’s time to make it happen,
it’s time to make a move,
it’s time to shake some conscience,
and create the mood.
For
this special season
that is upon us now
has every component
to change the world anew
with each of the ingredients
we use and bring to fore.
There simply is no miracle
we did not make ourselves.
We just pretend it is much more,
as though some fancy pinnacle
with elves to do the chores
makes wonders true
and miracles galore.
So pick your wonder,
Make your choice,
Decide, create anew
the world you want to see
the same way you go shop
and pick and buy a tree.
You could forgive a trespass,
forget a silly lie,
or invite a loner
for dinner in black tie.
You could bake more cookies
Than anyone could eat
And give the hefty surplus
to a stranger down the street.
Take sweaters down to shelters,
And blankets, boots and beds.
It’s all so very needed
to avoid the helter skelter
some live in our times.
Whatever you decide on,
Do do it grand with heart.
It does not take an Einstein,
you don’t have to be too smart.
The only thing required
is passion for the living.
That is the only reason
for us to do the giving.
