This is the time
Ok, you’ve been waiting for it, we’ve had the idea, we’ve
heard the requests and concerns and it’s finally time to take note. Yes, you
there! Get out that pen and paper and write this down. You think I’m joking,
eh? No joke. Let me see that pen. Get out your calendar. What’s that you
say? No pen? No calendar? You’re teasing me aren’t you? You think I don’t
know what a PDA is??? Use that! Ready? Good!
After a few months of writing this column and a few more months of agonizing thought, it’s finally time to get all of us together. Some of you I know, others I don’t. With Sybille’s help, we’re organizing a 18-35 get-together with Sybille being the only 13 year old (5+8=13). Not that we want to exclude anyone under or over that age, but I’m sorry, that’s how this space was conceived. The venue has not yet been announced but the month has. Next month. That being May. You know, the one where we say: April showers bring MAY flowers. Yes, THAT May. Time to get all of us out to meet, greet, sing, dance, make merry, whatever your little hearts would desire.
I would like to bring up some concerns that have been
brought to my attention in the last little while, since this column has
started. One being, there is a lack of youth get-togethers in the Germanic
descent community. Where do we fit in? This is the time to come and see what
you’d like to get out of a gathering such as this. There is no excluding
allowed, so come alone, come with friends, just come. You will be given the
floor to discuss, sing or recite a poem out of any subject you wish to
address. If you’d simply like to hang out with new people, that’s great
also. Have I mentioned that we would like you to come to this event? In MAY.
