The evening with the "Ensemble Kolorit" from Germany was a trip into
the past for the audience of about one hundred guests. Most of them in the
age group where the musical jewels offered awoke many fond memories. For
about two hours this talented group entertained the appreciative audience
with wonderful Oldies and Evergreens.
Rotraud Denecke, the manager and undisputed star of the
performances, has been with the ensemble since 1996. Her voice studies at
the famous Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Conservatory in Leipzig, and
additional rich theatre background made her an ideal vehicle for the
colourful musical palette performed this evening.
Thomas Volk, the musical director and founding member of
the ensemble, was responsible for the uninterrupted flow of the performances
at the club.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, USA moved to Graz, Austria – in
1978 - after extensive musical studies in the US. You can read his
impressive background on their website:
www.kolorit.de since it is simply to extensive for this report.
Matthias Bega, member of the ensemble since 1999,
was the third partner in this performance. His guest performances have taken
him to Aachen, Stendal, Bregenz, Wiesbaden and Kassel in Germany. He led
theatre workshops in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nishni Tagil in Siberia. One
could tell by his flawless performance that he wasn’t just a pretty face.

The three performers worked very well together to present
this show. One of the highlights must have been the old Weiss-Ferdl’s
routine about the correct spelling of "Semmel-n-knödel-n". Truly hilarious.
Scenes from various sketches

The extensive musical repertoire, that was obviously geared
to the expected audience, included hits such as: "Kauf Dir einen bunten
Luftballon"; "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins"; "Wunderbar"; "Jeder
Mensch braucht ein kleines bißchen Liebe" and many, many
more of this genre
that evoked warm memories of the past and the many performers that made
these hits "Evergreens". The last time the ensemble visited the Hansa Haus –
2 years ago - Barbara Kuhn was the female member of the cast.
I noticed a few of the audience whistling some of the tunes
on their way out to the parking lot. A memorable performance! Thank You,
Kolorit!
As always
