ORCHESTRA TORONTO HOSTS

ISRAELIEVITCH DUO &
INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO

APRIL 15

Toronto ---- On Sunday April 15 at 3 P.M., Orchestra Toronto will host a family concert program featuring Jacques and Michael Israelievitch as guest artists and highlighting its ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo. The concert takes place at the conveniently located and easily accessible Toronto Centre for the Arts on Yonge Street north of Sheppard Avenue.

The concert program itself will feature Jacques Israelievitch, Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra playing violin and his son Michael on percussion. The program includes works by Brahms (Tragic Overture), Hovhaness (Fantasy on Japanese Woodprints), Bruch (Violin Concerto #2) and the Canadian premiere of Rosenthal’s Prophetic Voices.

U.S. born Laurence Rosenthal’s Prophetic Voices for solo violin, percussion and orchestra was first performed in San Diego in 2004. In addition to symphonic works, Rosenthal has composed extensively for film and television. He has won several Emmy awards and has been nominated for two Oscars.

Orchestra Toronto’s Instrument Petting Zoo, compliments of Long & McQuade Limited Musical Instruments, will take place prior to the concert and at intermission. This wonderful opportunity allows children, youth and even parents and grandparents to try out the wide selection of instruments that will be on display.
