ISRAELIEVITCH DUO &
INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO

Toronto ---- On Sunday April 15 at 3 P.M.,
Orchestra Toronto will host a family concert program featuring Jacques
and Michael Israelievitch as guest artists and highlighting its
ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo. The concert takes place at the
conveniently located and
easily accessible Toronto Centre for the Arts on Yonge Street north of
Sheppard Avenue.
The concert program itself
will feature Jacques Israelievitch, Concertmaster of the Toronto
Symphony Orchestra playing violin and his son Michael on percussion .
The program includes works by Brahms (Tragic Overture), Hovhaness
(Fantasy on Japanese Woodprints), Bruch (Violin Concerto #2) and the
Canadian premiere of Rosenthal’s Prophetic Voices.
U.S. born Laurence Rosenthal’s Prophetic Voices
for solo violin, percussion and orchestra was first performed in San Diego
in 2004. In addition to symphonic works, Rosenthal has composed extensively
for film and television. He has won several Emmy awards and has been
nominated for two Oscars.
Orchestra Toronto’s Instrument Petting Zoo,
compliments of Long & McQuade Limited Musical
Instruments, will take place prior to the concert
and at intermission. This wonderful opportunity
allows children, youth and even parents
and grandparents to try out the wide selection of instruments that will be
on display.
