TAPA Announces New Sizzling Summer
5 Star Experience Packages

5 Star Experience Plus offers a 15% Savings at the Delta Chelsea Hotel

TORONTO-The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to announce the summer line-up of 5 Star Experience packages. The first-rate line up features Green Toronto and Malt & Pepper-A Day in the Distillery; each combining theatre and fantastic food with attractions that take advantage of Toronto's vibrant summers. The popular Barrel of Laughs package returns with a new mainstage show at The Second City. TAPA also introduces 5 Star Experience Plus. This upgrade offers 15% off the best available rate at the Delta Chelsea Hotel at the time of package purchase.

"TAPA is thrilled to expand the 5 Star Experience by partnering with the Delta Chelsea Hotel," says GO Live Coordinator Kathy Mackenzie. "With the 5 Star Experience Plus an entire weekend away in Toronto is memorable and easy to plan."

The 5 Star Experience offers exceptional entertainment value partnering theatre, dance, and opera companies with local downtown restaurants and Toronto attractions. Each unique package is designed to appeal to a specific demographic and features the flexibility to choose from a number of different performances. The option exists to redeem the package in one evening or over the entire summer.

The Distillery District is one of Toronto's fastest growing emerging arts communities. Malt & Pepper offers a one-hour historical walking tour of the Distillery District with a Segway of Ontario guide (with a tasting at Mill Street Brewery and Soma Chocolates); a three-course meal at Archeo Restaurant; and admission to a Soulpepper Theatre Company production of your choice, either the Dora Award-winning Our Town, or the intoxicating Time of Your Life. A remarkable value at only $80.00 per person.

Green Toronto is a gateway to nature and culture for the urban adventurer. For only $65.00 per person, participants receive a full-day bicycle rental from Wheel Excitement; a TourGreen Toronto map featuring Toronto parks, trails and neighbourhoods; a $30.00 gift certificate to Fresh Restaurant; and reserved seating at CanStage TD Twenty Fifth Anniversary Dream in High Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The popular Barrel of Laughs package continues throughout the summer featuring The Second City's newest production. The Second City is an institution in the entertainment industry featuring some of the world's best comics. Also included is a tour and tasting at The Steam Whistle Brewery and a three-course dinner at The Red Tomato. This 5 Star Experience is our bestseller at just $49.95 per person.

Packages go on sale June 1, 2007. 5 Star Experiences are easy to purchase and are sold and distributed at T.O. TIX-Toronto's One-Stop Ticket Shop at Yonge-Dundas Square, available in person or online at www.totix.ca. A partnership with the Delta Chelsea Hotel allows anyone purchasing a 5 Star Experience to upgrade to a 5 Star Experience Plus. Hotel must be booked through the T.O.TIX website or in person at the time of package purchase in order to be able to take advantage of this offer.

Go Live Toronto:
The 5 Star Experience is a component of TAPA's Go Live Toronto campaign. Go Live Toronto is a city-wide marketing campaign designed to increase public awareness of theatre, dance and opera, energize the youth demographic and engage a wider audience. Go Live Toronto is a call to action to the people of Toronto encouraging them to "go live" and experience some of the award-winning work that is consistently presented on Toronto stages.

Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts:
The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts is an arts service organization that represents nearly 200 professional theatre, dance and opera companies in the City of Toronto and works to create an environment in which the performing arts may flourish and maintain its leadership role in the vitality and liveability of the City of Toronto.

Among the programs and services provided by TAPA are: the T.O. TIX Booth-Toronto's One-Stop Ticket Shop at Yonge-Dundas Square and online at www.totix.ca; the Dora Mavor Moore Awards; the Go Live Theatre Guide with current listings for theatre, dance and opera performances; www.goliveto.ca featuring comprehensive show listings; The City Special, offering free performing arts tickets to members of communities-at-risk; hipTIX, sponsored by BMO Financial Group, offering $5.00 tickets to students between the ages of 15 and 25; 5 Star Experience, unique and affordable theatre packages; and the Commercial Theatre Development Fund.
