In Ink, Xing Bang Fu draws inspiration from
the ancient art of Chinese Calligraphy. In creating his art, the
Calligrapher seeks perfect harmony between the brushwork and the ink. His
mind is quiet and his body is tranquil. He uses
the forces of yin and yang, dark and light to brush the strokes of a
character.
By fusing elements of ballet, modern dance,
martial arts, Tai Chi and his own personal style, Xing Bang Fu has created a
truly unique dance experience that takes the dancers and the audience on a
physical, emotional and spiritual journey. Throughout this journey, the
dancers preserve a mysticism that makes it impossible to take your eyes away
from them. The show features seven scenes of progressing movement,
concluding with a solo performed by Xing.
XING DANCE THEATRE Executive Director Simon
Sylvain Lalonde says Ink is "challenging and inspiring to audiences
promising to ignite the imagination and deliver a dance experience not to be
missed.
