Kindermaskenball at the Donauschwaben
Almost 30 eager young faces – plus parents and
grandparents – had descended on the Danube Swabian Club for the
“Kindermaskenball”, strictly for the children.

Attired in fancy
and wonderful costumes – yes, even a smaller version of Superman
– they had lots of opportunity to amuse themselves coloring and
playing with various toys – even hopscotch – before the official
part of the afternoon.
The dedicated and multitalented Cheyenne
Kertes – the currently reigning “Miss Danube” - loosely
supervised them.

The youngsters were also busy admiring each
other’s costumes, making new friends and greeting old
acquaintances that they had met on previous occasions, or at
dances where they were part of the entertainment in connection
with the club’s Youth Group.

As usual Lorie Szauter – complete with grass-skirt, was the
Master of the largely unceremonious Ceremony and expertly guided
the official part of the affair and the games that followed
after Cheyenne had personally identified through personal
interview of each child the various versions of the children’s
costumes.
Hot Dogs – with all the required trimmings were available in the
restaurant section at the beginning of the event. The bar was
also open for those who wanted a cool ‘Blonde’ to go with the
multitude of tasty home-baked cookies, which were - provided by
the Ladies Auxiliaries - on each table. Well, tastes do differ!
Joe Folk, the president of the club also addressed the guests
and thanked them for attending this children’s special
entertainment event.
Kudos also to the DJ, Mike Nemeth, for providing the musical
background on this wonderful time.
