Such
headlines could be read in many places in Austria recently, when Canadian
based Austrian Alpine Choir toured large parts of Austria this summer. Local
audiences are quite familiar with this over 30 voices strong group, which
has become better and better over recent years. We can hardly wait for the
annual offerings in spring and during the Christmas season. Wherever this
choir performs they have developed a big following. Now they have conquered
the hearts of Austria. For some of the choir members this was a dream come
true. Their parents or other relatives hailed from there, but some of them
have no ties to this wonderful country other then by marriage or personal
interest and have never been there before. But they loved the music and now
they had an opportunity to see for themselves the charm and beauty this
small nation has to offer. It was an incredible experience for all.
Encouraged by the choirs tremendous success the choirmaster
Will Platzer wants to invite more people to join the choir for the purpose
of cultivating a tremendously rich cultural heritage. It is not necessary to
speak German. All an interested party has to have is a good singing voice
and a love of music.
