Hamilton Philharmonic Kicks off it’s 05-06 Pops Series with Latin Style

Hamilton, Ontario – On Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 8pm Hamilton’s Philharmonic Orchestra will perform "Carnival in Rio" at Hamilton Place.

Conductor Michael Reason will present the first of five Pop series concerts by celebrating the irresistible energy of Latin music with guest artists Paul Stevenson, Rique Franks and Liz Soderberg. The evening will feature the beat of bossa nova, tango, salsa, meringues and more, popularized by composers including Antonio Carlos Jobim and Carlos Santana.

Paul Stevenson has been Principal Trumpet with Brassroots, a 10-piece brass ensemble in London for the past ten years. Rique Franks, is best known for her duets with Dan Hill including, "In Your Eyes", "Hold Me Now", the duet version of "Sometimes When We Touch" and the remake of "Can’t We Try". She is also the on-air voice of Showcase Television. Liz Soderberg is a dynamic lead singer, songwriter and one of today’s finest back-up/harmony vocalists. Her impressive range and dramatic vocal skill have made her an integral element of the Jeans ‘n Classics series.

Pops series subscriptions and individual tickets are still available. For more detailed information and to order concert tickets call the Box Office at 905-526-7756.
