Toronto – On Wednesday, December 7, 2005, Juno-nominated singer Matt Dusk joins the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir to celebrate Christmas with the annual performance of Festival of Carols. The concert takes place at 8:00 pm at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, 1585 Yonge Street, Toronto. Along with Dusk and the choir, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir Brass and St. James Cathedral organist Michael Bloss will take part in a merry night of Christmas standards, old and new, including "The Huron Carol," "Away in a Manger," "Old Toy Trains," "Carol of the Bells," "King Jesus Hath a Garden," "Angelus ad Virginum" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." Backed by his band, Dusk will share his favourite holiday music and then, in the second half of the concert, will join the choir in song. The evening will also include entertaining seasonal anecdotes provided by the TMC’s artistic director, Noel Edison. The audience participation portion of the evening is always a highlight of Festival of Carols. This year, the audience will join the choir in the singing of familiar carols including "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," "It Came upon a Midnight Clear" and "The First Noel." Tickets to Festival of Carols are priced from $35 to $65. Senior and student tickets cost $32 to $59. For information and tickets, the public can call 416-598-0422 x 21 or visit www.tmchoir.org. The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council, as well as by a dedicated group of individual and corporate donors.
