Over one hundred French horns
played the closing fanfare last year

This event, the brainchild of Joan Watson, principal horn of the Canadian Opera Company, is meant to bring French horn players of all levels together to celebrate the wonderful sound of this instrument

On February 8th, 2008, we expect at least 100 French horn players to participate in this gala event. The participants include horn sections from Toronto’s major orchestras; the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Symphony, National Ballet, many free-lance musicians and amateurs from all over Ontario. Many students from Toronto and York Region high schools will perform two pieces under the direction of Gloria Ratcliffe, horn player and music educator. Students from Toronto’s universities and Royal Conservatory will be featured as well.

Guest artists will be, Juno award winner Jack Grunsky performing his piece "Child of the Universe" with the high school horn players and the Festival singers from Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate. St. Paul’s organist Eric Robertson will accompany the Pro horn sections in the St. Hubert’s Mass with organ and horn player / teacher Barbara Bloomer, will be honoured for her long time contribution to horn playing in Toronto.

Amateur horn players from the Metro area being encouraged to bring their horns and join all horn players in the final fanfare that closes the concert.

The sound will be amazing!
