Fusion Under The Big Top Gala in support of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Toronto – The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) proudly presents its 7th annual Gala - Fusion Under The Big Top. Formerly known as the 65 Roses Gala, this event has raised over $600,000 net revenue for cystic fibrosis (CF) research and care. Join our ring master and entertainer, Hugo Straney, as we once again journey under the big top to help give Canadians with cystic fibrosis the Breath of Life®.

This unforgettable evening will include a cocktail reception featuring exquisite culinary creations from some of Toronto’s most prominent chefs, a delectable four course meal matched with an inspired wine tasting, thrilling gravity defying circus performances, live music by MC & Company, dancing, a silent and live auction, and much more. The sold out gala will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at the award winning Angus Glen Golf Club in Unionville, Ontario.

"The Fusion Under the Big Top Gala will create a nostalgic and memorable evening through the magic of the circus," says CCFF - Toronto & District Chapter President, Ron Anderson. "The bright colours, the smell of popcorn, the excitement of the performances - the circus is something we can all relate to, but cystic fibrosis is a disease most know little about. Through this event, we hope to create awareness of this devastating disease, and raise much needed funds for research for a cure."

Cystic fibrosis which affects the lungs and the digestive system is the most common, fatal, genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. In the digestive tract, CF blocks the absorption of adequate nutrients from food. In the lungs, the effects of the disease are most devastating; and with time, respiratory problems become increasingly severe. Ultimately, most CF deaths are due to lung disease.

The CCFF is a Canada-wide health charity, with 50 volunteer chapters, that funds CF research and care. In 2008, the Foundation is supporting more than 50 research projects, which are exploring all aspects of the CF puzzle; from investigating new methods of fighting infection and inflammation in the lungs, to finding new therapies that target the basic defect at a cellular level.
