 October 2008 - Nr. 10

Calgary, AB (October 15, 2008) – Big Rock Untapped CD Vol. 2 won’t be released until February 2009 but the final judging to uncover some of Canada’s most talented, unsigned Canadian artists is now underway.

A total of 521 songs from 176 bands/artists were submitted online to www.bigrockuntapped.com for consideration on the second annual Untapped CD. Over 50,000 CDs will be distributed, instantly giving it virtual "gold record" status in Canada. About 30,000 CDs will be available free in specially marked cases of Big Rock beer nationwide, while another 20,000 or so will be distributed free at major music venues across the country, including The 2009 JUNO Awards in Vancouver.

Factoring in composition, lyrics, overall sound along with talent and creativity, a panel of eight judges from broad musical backgrounds and from across the country will select 10 – 15 songs for the new album by October 27, 2008. Canadian musical maven Dave Pierce leads the judges. Last year’s inaugural Untapped Vol. 1 CD featured rising stars such as Suzie McNeil, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Zoë Bentley and Star Collector.
