TORONTO – Toronto Jazz singer Emilie-Claire Barlow is being presented for the first time by the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall at Glenn Gould Studio on Tuesday, April 21, at 8 PM. Winner of the National Jazz Award for "Female Vocalist of the Year" in 2008 (and nominated for the same award this year) Emilie-Claire will feature music from her latest album Haven’t We Met? which includes new arrangements of songbook tunes including gorgeous French classics such as Jardin D’Hiver, love songs like "All I do is Dream of You" and peppy Brazilian bossa novas like La Vem a Baiana. She will complement this material with selections from her previous album, The Very Thought of You (which was nominated for a Juno Award in 2008). Ms. Barlow will also perform fan favourites over the past few albums. Joining her onstage at the Gould are talented Canadians Kelly Jefferson on sax, Ross MacIntyre on upright bass, and Reg Schwager on guitar.

Haven’t We Met?
was recently released in Canada in March via her own label imprint Empress Music Group Inc. (distributed by E1 Distribution). The disc, a 13 track ode to love and relationships, was self-produced in Toronto at DoaneLeblanc studios on the Danforth. The standards were re-arranged and recorded in full instrumentation – using a well-populated string section and the talents of not only the musicians mentioned above, but also Dave Restivo on piano, Chase Sanborn on trumpet and Davide DiRenzo on drums.

The album has been in the top 200 albums since its release on March 10 and has been steadily climbing the charts, peaking at number one on the Jazz charts in Canada (according to Nielsen Soundscan) and remains in the top 10 on the iTunes Canada Jazz charts as well. The Toronto singer and her band have been on tour in Quebec, Ontario and BC since the launch, finding huge support from fans and media alike.

Emilie-Claire’s sixth album¸ The Very Thought Of You garnered a lot of attention in 2008. The album was nominated for a Juno Award and took her as far afield as Japan’s Ginza International Jazz Festival (where she releases via JVC Victor.) Her rendition of Alex Kramer’s "There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens" at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala was also nominated for a Gemini Award in the same year.

Emilie-Claire’s complementary career as a voice-actress also continues to keep her busy. She voices "Courtney" on the hit TV series "Total Drama Island", is featured as a lead (Alice) on "Bakugan Battle Brawlers", and has recurring roles on popular animated shows such as "6Teen" "The Amazing Spiez", "Stoked", "Z-Squad", "Rescue Heroes" and "Sailor Moon". Emilie-Claire's voice has also been featured in commercials for companies such as Sunlife. For more information, please visit www.emilieclairebarlow.com.
