Noon to 9:00pm

TORONTO – YOUTH DAY 2009 announces its 3rd year date at Toronto City Hall as Saturday, JULY 25th from noon to 9:00pm, with an anticipated audience in excess of 15,000 visitors.

YOUTH DAY organized by KPYO (KidsPlay & YouthOutlook), enables young artists aged 14 to 24 to showcase their positive achievements in music, dance, art & photography. Two separate stages on Nathan Philips Square feature over 300 talented performers and with almost 60 acts this year, the event continues to be a FREE – unprecedented – non-stop – exciting 9 hour venue. In 2007 over 5,000 people enjoyed Fefe Dobson as headliner, and by 2008 the crowd doubled to over 10,000 visitors topped off with 3 JUNO award winners; Michie Mee, Blessed and Carlos Morgan. A full roster of entertainment including spectacular surprises for 2009 and already one Canadian Idol finalist will be announced in July. Great food, artisan booths, information/career/resource stations, plus free give-aways, scholarship presentations, prizes and much more, round of the fun day.

Founder and CEO, Tylaine Duggan states: "The festival, which the youth themselves have grown into the largest of its kind, proves that our young artists crave the opportunity to display their passions, and that indeed they find focus in these creative mediums – an achievement that would have made our Chair Emeritus, Gino Empry proud. In fact, it is a benefit for everyone in Toronto, and this special day dedicated to them – our next generation – is one that behooves us all to come out and support."

This year, new partners and features include a drive for the DAILY BREAD FOOD BANK, Toronto Crime Stoppers, Toronto Centre for the Arts, and a growing list of Corporate Champions such as McDonald’s Restaurants, Rogers Mobile, the new FLOW 93.5 and many other responsible organizations making a difference.

ABOUT YOUTH DAY

Created after the "Summer of the Gun in 2005", YOUTH DAY as an annual free family event, operates with two collaborating advisory Boards comprised of over 30 experts in their fields on behalf of the non for profit, Celebrations of Youth Organization. Uniquely, YOUTH DAY is designed from the direct recommendations of a large Youth Advisory Board who range in age from 14 to 24, and create their own special event. With an objective to replicate right across Canada, KPYO anticipates the announcement of the addition of YOUTH DAY Vancouver in 2010.
