With the 2010 Olympics taking place in our very own backyard,
soon everyone's eyes will be on the slopes. And rather than
sitting at home thinking, "I wish I could do that", get out
there and give it a try. Skiing and snowboarding is easier than
you think and everyone can take a crake at it during this year's
National Learn to Ski & Snowboard Week (NLSSW).
"National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Week is a celebration of
winter, a Canadian tradition for over 30 years," explains Colin
Chedore, President of the Canadian Ski Council. "We want to
encourage Canadians everyone to give winter sports a chance.
Whether it's skiing, snowboarding, or cross country skiing,
there is something for everyone."
This year's NLSSW runs from January 16th to the 24th
and there are more activities than every. Bundle up the kiddies
and visit your local ski area for free fun and exciting events
including races, outdoor BBQs, on-snow concerts, jam sessions,
halfpipes and Big Air competitions.
And while you are out there take advantage of some of the great
discounts being offered at many of the participating areas
across Canada. In addition to discounts on lessons, during this
week only they will be offering 50% off, or "2 for 1", on
packages that include beginner lift tickets, equipment rentals
and beginner lessons. That's everything you need to be a part of
Canada's most exciting and popular winter sports!
