It is the beginning of a new year – the year 2012. So many people have
made their New Year’s resolutions in order to become better
people by quitting smoking, eating healthier, losing some
pounds, getting a bigger house, getting a better job, getting
rid of a bad habit, trying to become a better spouse or parent
etc. etc. etc. I believe that New Year’s resolutions are not bad
at all and they can help us to achieve our goals. However, I
always want to double check my own resolutions with God’s
perspective. This means that I ask myself: What is really
important in my life in the eyes of God? What does He think
about my life and my wishes and my goals? Are my resolutions
really helpful to live a better life? Or do I only have good
intentions but my motivations might be biased?
I found a remarkable little list of things that God might ask us
when we will stand face to face. Maybe this little list can help
us to shape our New Year’s resolutions.
Things God won't ask on that day
- God won't ask what kind of car you drove.
He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have
transportation.
- God won't ask the square footage of your
house.
He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
- God won't ask about the clothes you had in
your closet.
He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.
- God won't ask what your highest salary was.
He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.
- God won't ask what your job title was.
He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.
- God won't ask how many friends you had.
He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.
- God won't ask in what neighbourhood you lived.
He'll ask how you treated your neighbours.
- God won't ask about the color of your skin.
He'll ask about the content of your character.
To all our readers I wish a happy and blessed New Year!
