On Saturday, June 3, from 3-5 pm the German Consulate General and the Association "German School Toronto" invite interested parents and students to a second open house and to visit the future rooms and facilities of the German School Toronto, which are to be shared with the Lycee Francais at 77 Charles Street West, Toronto. Interesting enough there is another German School in the making in Mississauga. Both of these schools offer a full daily curriculum, following the guidelines for local and European standards.
Dust off your party gowns and tuxedos and get ready for an evening of cocktails, dancing, entertainment and fun. The much anticipated annual Black and White Polo Ball is happening on June 6 at the Royal Ontario Museum. Live entertainment, a unique silent auction, a gourmet dinner with fine wines are followed by dancing. This promises to be e stellar evening. The dinner starts at 6:30 pm and the evening won’t be over before 1 am. This ball is usually frequented by professional people aged 25 and up. Every year a different charity is chosen to be supported. This time all funds raised will go to the Heart and Stroke foundation. Check out the web site to find out more: www.poloball.com!
Tuesday the 6th of June is a busy day. If you do not want to dig deep into your pocket in support of charity you van follow the invitation of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Toronto and come to the Goethe Institute on King Street, just West of University on the South side, and listen to a fantastic concert held in honour of the Bach Year 2000. Nina Karmon, violin, and Nina Tichman, piano, will give a concert, performing works by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. It starts at 7:30 pm. The admission is free and a reception follows the concert.
On Friday the 9th of June the Austrian Consulate General is inviting special guests of the media to breakfast. The Ambassador of Austria in Canada D. Wendelin Ettmayer will discuss Canadian Austrian relations and the current situation with a view to the future. For other events consult the advertisements in this issue.
