What have you done, or have you? Everywhere I go I find the same teddy in my room! You are the only one who knows my temporary homes away from home. There are 5 now all together and they have been christened the Brothers Karamazov by me. Gosh, I hope there are not any more, even though I have to admit that I am starting to like them.

During the European Soccer Cup I sat often alone in one of my rooms and watched. A few times teddy went flying through the air in frustration, followed by apologies. How crazy is that? I am talking to a toy!

Just now I finished watching the final game between Greece and Portugal. I really wonder what the chances are that the two teams that started the playoffs are also the ones that end up in the finale together? Maybe it is a first?

Anyway, it appears that this is the year of the Greeks, just as they said. Winning the European Soccer Cup, the 3rd largest Soccer event in the world, Olympics and world cup being the 2 others, hosting the Olympic Games this year, finally, is all taken as a good omen.

I remember when Toronto was bidding against Athens for the Olympic Games the first time. I recall sitting in City Hall and listening to all the pros and cons in Toronto. Now they really got it, and we still have not! How wonderful for them.

I also really think that it was highly overdue that the games went home to their land of origin.

One thing is certain: these games will be most interesting and challenging, especially in the security department. Opening and closing ceremonies will be unforgettable; I am sure, with all that history and the Gods themselves looking down from Mount Olympus! Hopefully Athena is fending off all intruders with the heroes of old!

Mom, I might not make it home much this summer, I have a few pressing projects, but I hope to squeeze in 2 weeks before the warm weather is over. Can we go to the cottage together? Or are you already all booked up? I can always go somewhere else nearby, if space is a problem…. You know me; I am easy as long as you invite me to a good BBQ occasionally and we get to talk.

Have to run…

Greetings from your son Martin

and the Karamazovs!
