Club Loreley & Fiesta Week
Happy Canada Day from K.G. Loreley Oshawa. Our 46 dancers (4 groups) are enjoying a well deserved rest after their performances at Club Loreley for Fiesta Week from June 18th until June 23rd. We started it off by participating in the Fiesta Parade on Father’s Day in which all of our dancers were involved. The Oshawa Folks Arts Council has been organizing Fiesta Week for 35 years and Club Loreley has been involved since the beginning.

This year there were 16 ethnic pavilions to choose from and all had excellent food, beverages and entertainment. Naturally, Club Loreley is always a crowd favorite especially since our Dancers put on a variety of lively dances every evening. We were privileged to have some guest performers join us this year. We had our very own club choirs, the Heimat Singers and the Loreley Singers, who performed lovely medleys of traditional German songs; we had some old-time fiddle players and step dancers which were simply amazing to see; we had some great jazz and tap dance performers and an Irish Trio from Hoofers Performing Arts in Oshawa and were fortunate to once again have the Weiss Blau Bayern Junior Schuhplattler from the Hansa Haus perform.

On behalf of our committee members and dancers I would like to thank The Echo Germanica for the ongoing support and especially Dick Altermann for always being so supportive and encouraging about the younger generation’s involvement in Club Loreley.
