The Nutcracker Opens December 8

Special Guest Appearance by Mayor David Miller

November …"The best Nutcracker on the planet" (Globe and Mail) begins its second season on stage at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on December 8, 2007. To celebrate the return of The Nutcracker, Toronto’s magical holiday tradition, Mayor David Miller will join The National Ballet of Canada on stage in a special guest appearance during the opening performance at 2:00 p.m.

Principal Dancers Heather Ogden and Guillaume Côté will dance the lead roles of The Sugar Plum Fairy and Peter/The Nutcracker for the opening performance on December 8 at 2:00 p.m. and Jillian Vanstone and Piotr Stanczyk will dance at 7:00 p.m., the new early start time for evening performances.

Sold out last year, The Nutcracker is on stage at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts from December 8 - 30, 2007. For more information, visit our new website, thenutcracker.ca.

The Nutcracker choreography and libretto are by James Kudelka, music is by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, set and costume design are by Santo Loquasto and lighting design is by Jennifer Tipton.

Nutcracker Story Time will continue this year, beginning 45 minutes prior to every performance. This engaging, interactive telling of The Nutcracker will take place in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre of the Four Seasons Centre.

Specially-priced Holiday Packs of four tickets are available throughout the run for all seats in the house.
