Author Deliberates on Religion, God, Nature and More in Timely New Spiritual Handbook

In Nash Khatri's new philosophicaltome, Thinking Is Authorized!, the author challenges readers' perceptions of belief with this key concept: Real spiritual growth requires the modesty of seeking the truth, rather than the arrogance of owning it.

Called a "must read on any thinker's list of books," by Jon Keith, author of Executive Memory Techniques, Khatri engages readers with his refreshing reflections on such institutions as God, nature, prayers, miracles, death and the afterlife. Written in the disarming, often witty, style of an intimate conversation, Thinking Is Authorized! provokes self-contemplation and fosters spiritual nourishment.

A stimulating read for any booklover, the cognitive approach of Thinking Is Authorized! bridges the gap not just between believers and non-believers, but among those of different faiths as well. "Nash Khatri captured my heart with an outstanding, well-articulated and logical presentation on spirituality, and his humble attitude toward the Truth," writes Adele B. Lynn, author of the best-seller The Emotional Intelligence Activity Book.

While the subject of religion is candidly approached by Khatri, the author makes it clear the book does not fit the role of a pious text. "I consider spiritual growth to be independent of religious knowledge," says Khatri. "Having one does not necessarily imply having the other. Religion certainly has a place in society, but the focus in this book is geared toward attaining and advancing spiritual sophistication."

Born of Indian and Muslim heritage on the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar, Khatri relocated to the United States more than 26 years ago. Though he says his life has been "very fortunate," Khatri has faced several hardships, including a major brain surgery (from which he fully recovered), which he believes he overcame with the help of being "spiritually well-grounded." After earning a master's degree in taxation and working as a certified public accountant (CPA) and a certified management accountant (CMA), Khatri shifted his career goals to include electrical engineering. Subsequently, as a civilian, he completed the Naval Nuclear Power School, an academic program whose curriculum is widely regarded as one of the most challenging in the world.

Though this is his first book, Khatri has authored several articles. Among his favorites are "Allah, bless America" and "Nobody Knows," both of which appeared in the Letters to the Editor section of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He is married and has two sons.
