Toronto — The Canadian Youth Business Foundation has unveiled this year’s winner of the Ontario Best Business Award. Entrepreneur Jodi Sinden has been chosen for her innovative work in creating the Homebox, TM an original organizing system that stands out for its functionality and usefulness. The Homebox which quickly caught the interest of Chapters/Indigo and The Shopping Channel among others is already being sold in both Canada and the United States.

Jodi’s success in manufacturing is one of the reasons why the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is proud to honour Jodi with their 2008 Ontario Best Business Award. CYBF presents this award annually to the best CYBF young entrepreneurs’ businesses in six different areas across Canada: Ontario, Alberta, Atlantic Canada, Central Prairies, British Columbia and Québec. CYBF will give Jodi her award at the Chairman’s Awards Gala on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Royal Ontario Museum/Michael Lee-Chin Crystal in Toronto.

"CYBF’s guidance and financing came at a crucial time for my business. After seeing home-made prototypes, CYBF’s support allowed the first production run and subsequent product launch at the stationery industry’s most important show. It was a critical time and I would not have been able to take part without the support of the CYBF."

Jodi truly has gotten far. The Homebox was a major success at the National Stationery Show in New York in May 2007, where Jodi walked away with top honours for Best New Product (Desk Accessories). Since then, Jodi appeared on CBC’s the Dragon’s Den, where she was offered an investment deal, which she turned down.

"CYBF recognizes the talent and determination of Ontario’s youth and youth nationwide," says Shelley Marinigh, CYBF’s Director, Ontario and National Central Adjudication. "While others may be skeptical, we are not. We know how successful young entrepreneurs like Jodi can be, if given a chance. We’re thrilled to honour Jodi and other deserving entrepreneurs, mentors and community partners who guide their way."
