Starting today, celebrate Toronto’s 175th birthday with a
feature garden that creatively uses plants, trees, bulbs, water
and technology in a design rooted in traditional horticultural
principles. Discover Toronto: Then and Now through plants and
photography at Canada Blooms 2009:
The Toronto Flower and Garden Show from Wednesday, March 18
to Sunday, March 22, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Plant and garden lovers can access City programs that will
help them enjoy parklands, make healthy choices, conserve
natural resources and strengthen neighbourhoods and communities.
Find out about incentives that save money, produce healthy homes
and protect our environment.
Torontonians can also look into the past with Toronto's Visual
Legacy:
Official City Photography from 1856 to the Present, on sale
at the show.
Based on the City of Toronto Archives’ extensive photographic
holdings, this commemorative book presents an impressively rich
history of 140 years of urban development, municipal initiatives
and major civic events.
Experts from various divisions will be on hand to educate
residents about programs and incentives offered by the City of
Toronto: Parks, Forestry and Recreation; City of Toronto
Archives; City Planning; Energy Efficiency; Toronto Building;
Toronto EMS; Toronto Environment Office/Live Green Toronto;
Toronto Police Service; Toronto Water and Transportation
Services.
Lawson Oates, Director of the Toronto Environment Office, will
deliver an interactive presentation about Live Green Toronto at
the Grey Power Celebrity Stage on the 800 Level on Wednesday,
March 18 at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 22 at 12.30 p.m.
Toronto: Then and Now, feature garden #15, is located on the 800
Level of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building,
222 Bremner Blvd.
