On March 29, 2009 Newmarket-Aurora MPP Frank Klees announced
that he will seek the leadership of the Ontario Progressive
Conservative Party.
"Our Province needs decisive leadership, and we’re not
getting it from Dalton McGuinty," said Klees. "He has no plan,
is out of touch with Ontarians, and will only drag us deeper
into debt, will further destabilize our economy, and undermine
the quality of life of every man, woman and child in this
province."
We watched and listened to what he had to say and followed him
when he came to the Danube Swabian Club in Scarborough, sort of
visiting his roots.
He was introduced by Joseph Meyer, an Danube
Swabian from Leamington, where Frank arrived with his parents as
an immigrant when he was only 5 years old. After the quaint
reminiscences Frank Klees came quickly to the matter at hand. He
wants people to participate in the process. He wants to change
the way we do not have a democracy to a real one, where
parliament members can vote their conscience, instead of having
to follow a rule from the top.
He looked at the problems of
overtaxing and lack of caring for those that need help, he spoke
about the fact that discipline in schools is missing, that
parents and teachers have to get and take back some of the
responsibility of raising children properly instead of having
them drugged.
We learned that anyone over 14 can become a member by signing a
membership, you do not even have to be a Canadian citizen, also
online at www.frankklees.com,
or at the office in Richmond Hill, or when he can be found on
his campaign trail. Next he will be in Kitchener in the
Concordia Club on May 12th between 2:30pm and 4:00pm.
Wayne Wettlaufer will introduce him. In the Danube Swabian club
60 new members were registered.
Would it not be wonderful to have someone of our heritage in
office at Queens Park?
