Weiss-Blau Bayern Juniors hosted their
16th annual Kinderfest on May 16, 2010 at the German Canadian
Club Hansa. The audience enjoyed an afternoon of wonderful
multicultural dance from local junior dance groups. It is always
a marvel to see the young children and youth dance with such
pride and professionalism. The full house demonstrated their
appreciation with rousing applause after each performance. The
hall was nicely decorated reflecting the groups colours blue and
white and with spring like centre pieces made by the Weiss Blau
Juniors.

The festivities began with the M.C., Gabriel Lopez, introducing
the dance groups. The groups marched in, in alphabetical by the
country they represent. The host group, Weiss Blau Juniors led
the groups into the hall for the Einmarsh, followed by
Kitchener
Schwaben Club Kindergruppe & Jugendgruppe representing Germany.
They were followed by India, the Shiamak Davar International
(Canada) - Toronto Dance Team. Representing Ireland was the
Woodgate Shamrock
Academy of Irish Dance from Brampton. Latvia
was represented by Menestins, the children's dance group from
the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto. Hula San
Village Dance Troupe from Mississauga represented Polynesia.
It
was a wonderful sight to see all the groups at the front of the
hall as they posed during their introductions and for picture
taking in their local costumes.
The President of the Hansa Haus, Walter Reiner, welcomed the
dance groups and audience, noting that the children’s
involvement in multi-cultural dance groups preserves the
heritage of the local communities.
During the performances it was wonderful to see how the young
dancers showed their appreciation of each other’s presentations
by their enraptured attention. The variety of the performances
was a delight. Following the performances Carmen
Harany, the
President and Vortaenzerin of the Weiss Blau Bayern Juniors, and
Henry Lopez led all the groups in several communal dances which
were thoroughly enjoyed by the dancers and
audience. The
Polonaise had the groups winding all throughout the hall.
The afternoon ended with the handing out of the prizes from the
tombola. The close to 150 prizes all geared to children and
youth were a big hit especially the electronic keyboard and
skateboard. It was indeed another very successful Kinderfest
enjoyed by all!!
