It’s a hot, hot summer! |
Just before summer officially started on the calendar the Hansa Club of Brampton had a Midsummer Night Dance with a surprise after darkness set in. But before that could happen the president welcomed everyone and commended them to have a good time. The many guests enjoyed several available choices of delicious dinners, prepared by the club’s own kitchen, run – like the catering of the house, by Reiner Walter’s daughter Karen. The conversation was animated.
Many regulars had visitors from Germany and introduced them around to their friends. Thus we met with sister Heidrun of Ekko Hildebrandt, the club’s super party planner and master decorator, and Hilde Mrasek’s sister Marianne.
There even was an
offering of traditional clothing again. Neil Hoffman and his
wife from Kitchener were in the lobby with their imported
Trachten shirts and related items. They will be back again for
those of us that want to refresh our “German Look”.
Dancing was a major part of the evening. Since the Golden Keys from Kitchener were entertaining the mood went up, up, up and when the band asked to join them for a polonaise there was no holding anyone one back. Practically everyone participated.
The long line of frolickers (maybe you can spot yourself or a friend) were finally led outside to the lovely backyard of the house were a fire to greet summer was lit in a bowl. Unfortunately it was way too windy and had to be abandoned. But that did not stop anyone from welcoming summer and the fun went on inside until after midnight. Hopefully the raffle raised a few extra dollars that the club will put to good use.
