Carolling by the Hansa ChoirThe tradition of Christmas get-togethers outside the family is as old as the festive season. Just think of the carollers that walked from house to house in centuries gone by. Nowadays we might prefer to go to club gathering and listen to a choir sing, keeping our participation to a minimum.
The sing along however is always a favorite. This was proven again at the Hansa House Christmas Advents Singing presented by the Hansa Choir under the direction of the enthusiastic conductor Dieter Wütherich, who honoured the former choirmaster Wolf Schepp during this ceremony.
A rich program of songs and poetry was interspersed with an invitation to sing along from texts that were generously made available. On the tables there were donated Dimpflmeier Stollen (they seem to support a lot of organisations that way), and coffee was made available during the break in program.
This is the way the choir wants to go: Rather than participating
in high pressure choir events this group wants to contribute to
its own community and invite more folks to participate in the
pleasure of singing and being together. This sounds like a
marvelous idea that might attract a lot more people to join in.
Depending what time of year the event will happen it will always
reflect a seasonal theme. So please look out for the next event
and come join the fun. |
