Donauschwaben Christmas Fair

This too is an old tradition in the Danube Swabian Club of
Scarborough and always the first one to attempt to bring us into
the mood.
Unfortunately it has shrunk somewhat and there were too many
vendors offering the same sweet Christmas treats.
However, the
atmosphere was good, the food was good and the old friends we
met were also fine. Trinkets from the Women’s Auxiliary and
Gaenseleberwurst and smoked fish, strudel and Stollen, all made
their way home with happy people. Some fancy Christmas gifts
could also be gotten, at Georges Jewellers for instance.
I have
a hard time going by, knowing that I always find something that
I truly love. That was the case this time too. Lucky for me the
best of all husbands was looking for a Christmas present for me
and thus I will be receiving what my heart desires… What was it
again? Gee, I already forgot what I picked out! It will be a big
surprise on Christmas Eve!
With all that accomplished there was no need to go to the big
Christmas market in the Distillery District. Once run by a
German organisation it did not see its 5th year.
However, now that a big operator has taken it over it might just
make it. Too bad that our community could not persuade Toronto
to become Christmas Market fans. I wonder what that was all
about? SFR
