Christmas is for ChildrenEver year a special event is planned in most German clubs for and around children. This year we went to join the crowd in the German Canadian Club Hansa. The house was so packed that a seat was almost impossible to come by.
It is just so gratifying to watch children and their parents and grandparents sit together making crafts, playing, singing, watching the kids go in and out of the Gingerbread House, and waiting for Santa Claus and enjoying Stollen and cookies.
The children gathered around and Santa spoke to all of them and listened to them before he gave them their present. Naturally, there was an elf to help out. Of all the children, from the smallest to the tallest, only one was afraid of Santa Claus and cried. That is a pretty good record! Everyone else was all smiles.
