High Marks for Germany in Competitiveness Study |
||
TWIG - A new international survey of corporate executives finds there are few places better to do business than Germany. The Geneva-based World Economic Forum asked the heads of 4,022 companies in 59 countries to assess the competitive strengths and weaknesses of countries around the world. Overall, according to the survey results, Germany placed third, trailing only Finland and the United States. The survey respondents pointed to the innovativeness of German companies and their strategic planning as particular sources of competitive strength. High taxes, ineffective labour policies and the difficulties confronting new firms were the main drawbacks to doing business in Germany cited in the WEF survey. |
