TWIG - A diverse group of artists and entertainers from the United States
will appear in Berlin this fall under the auspices of the cultural program
"America’s Voices." In kicking off the program, U.S. Ambassador
to Germany John Kornblum said he hoped the six-week event would provide a
rich forum for German-American cultural exchange. The program, originally
conceived for Expo 2000, was transferred to Berlin after the United States
decided not to sponsor a national exhibit in Hannover. It is being presented
with support from the U.S. government and the American Academy in Berlin.
Participants include actor Joel Grey, conductor and composer Michael Tilson
Thomas, architect Michael Graves, writer Paul Theroux and cartoonist Jules
Feiffer.
