Gutknecht Recognizes Good Deed in U.S. Congress

 

TWIG - Republican Congressman Gil Gutknecht of Minnesota took the floor in the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday (October 31) to pay moving tribute to German-American solidarity. He read a widely circulated e-mail written shortly after the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington. A young ensign aboard the USS Winston Churchill wrote touchingly to her father about a powerful gesture of support the crew of the German naval ship Luetjens showed to her and her shipmates while at sea.
