You are sooooo predictable! I always get what I yearn for when I show up for a festivity. Easter was great, even if Canada let us down again with the lack of natural outside growth to hide eggs in. But your substitution of surprises for the animals was obviously very welcome. I have never seen more beautiful birds in your backyard.

I hope that by Mother’s Day nature’s fortunes have been advanced somewhat and you can enjoy your garden. Dad let me know that it was time for a new patio set. Has it arrived yet? Unfortunately I cannot be there on your special day, but watch out for deliveries on the Friday beforehand.

Otherwise there is not much to report from my end. Life is pretty much routine these days for me. Some projects are up and running and it is just a time of maintaining forward motion.

I did have a couple of interesting phone calls from friends. Sorry mom, you are not my only source of information. Apparently the International Documentary Film Festival was back in Toronto. At the closing night party, which took place on a patio location on Church Street, someone called the cops because it was too loud!

What’s with that? Isn’t that the district of sexual liberation where people have been known to do all sorts of celebrating until late into the night and right to the early morning hours, including in the stark nude? Doesn’t Toronto appreciate the influx of travelers from all over the world to bring money to the tourist-starved city?

I guess hog town turned back the clock and became hick town. Soon the adverts will read: If you want peace and quiet come visit Toronto downtown. Here we roll up the sidewalks latest at11 pm.

From an old flame I hear this: In the recent April issue of Vogue magazine is a whole insert of 14 pages praising Toronto, Niagara Falls and Ontario, of course in an effort to get people to come back to visit. Our wonderful Roy Thompson Hall is also commemorated with a page. Unfortunately one of the photos is totally incorrect. Hasn’t it been nearly a year now that Toronto has a totally refurbished hall and the sphere like deflectors mentioned and shown in the publication have been replaced with more efficient means of sound enhancements?

I wonder who is responsible for that mistake? Hey, who knows, may be we can make another sponsorship scandal out of it…Ah well, but a partial refund for the no doubt tens of thousand, more likely hundreds thereof, this has cost the taxpayers would be in order?

And then I read that Mayor Miller is now walking the same tightrope of political correctness, as past Mayor Lastman had to walk…Gosh, folks have no sense of humour.

Besides, the police have the same problems as the rest of society! Whoever thinks that this organization is a paragon of virtue has been asleep. Policemen come from the same pool of humanity as the rest of us and fall prey to the same temptations. Therefore there will be the same amount of irrationality, insanity and criminality.

Also Mutti, lass es Dir gut gehen, und nicht nur am Muttertag. Vater wird Dich für mich mit zum Essen ausführen, wenn Du ihn lässt!

Happy Mother’s Day

Until next time

Your son Martin
