Oshawa carnival is doing great…

Dick Altermann at his computer

…says Holly Henninger!

No gloom and doom was noticed at the recent 33rd anniversary event (3x11!) and there is quite a bit of hope for the 1. KG Loreley. This Oshawa group must be doing something right, as reported by Holly. They are cultivating a new group of guard dancers they refer to as "Kinder-Tot", who Raggety Anne (Geraldine Rideout) & Julia Henninger, Senior Dancer [photo: Club Loreley]entertained the full house at the club’s function on the 28th of January with a polka - come show dance. The society now has four groups: The Kinder-Tots, mentioned above, Kinder (15), Juniors (14), and Seniors (8). These groups all performed guard-dances and the seniors performed their Can-Can show dance – to roaring applause. "It was great fun and really appreciated by the audience", Holly reported.

Some of the guest-societies were the Treue Husaren, Mississauga and Toronto, the Narrenzunft Lovely Lady from Kitchener with Witchy the Witch Tammi deLima [photo: Club Loreley]Concordia, Kitchener, Narrhalla 58, Hamilton, Ontario Prinzengarde and the KG Hansa.

The Treue Husaren Mississauga had brought their dance-guard along, who performed three show dances and a free-style solo to the delight of the audience.

The "Euro Connection" provided the musical entertainment for the evening to keep the dance floor crowded with the many ‘out of this world’ costumes that were in evidence – so many of them that special supplementary prices had to be awarded at the end of the evening.

The Oshawa group is trying to re-kindle closer contacts with the other societies that are still active and they also want to convey their gratitude to Albert Kergl – a true Ambassador of Carnival, who was always available when needed and the most helpful and well-informed contact.

The KG Loreley will be attending the coming function at the Hansa Haus (February 25, 2006) and will be bringing their Senior Guard along.

Till then: Alaaf and Helau!
