MOOREDALE CONCERTS’ POPULAR CHILDREN’S SERIES

MUSIC & TRUFFLES PRESENTS THIRD SEASON IN 2005-06

Mooredale Concerts offers Music & Truffles, a special series for the audiences of tomorrow. This innovative children’s classical series, for children four and up, has been a runaway success since Artistic Director Kristine Bogyo introduced it in 2003-04. Many concerts sell out in advance.

Concerts take place Sundays, 1-2 p.m. at Walter Hall, University of Toronto, 80 Queen’s Park Crescent (south of the ROM - Museum Subway).

Actor John Slavik presides over the concerts as the colourfully costumed master of ceremonies, "Papageno." He tells the audience what the musicians are doing and what to listen for. Children take turns sitting on cushions onstage while the musicians perform. After each piece, children onstage and in their seats are invited to share their thoughts on the music and to ask questions. To sweeten the experience even more, children go home with their own chocolate truffle at the conclusion.

The five concerts feature the artists and some of the chamber music heard in Mooredale Concerts’ regular 3 p.m. performance. Line-up for the third season of Music & Truffles:

  • Sunday, September 25, 2005
    Baroque Music:
Can you tell the difference between Bach and Vivaldi?

  • Sunday, October 16, 2005
