Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog(tm)

A new exhibition at Canadian Children’s Museum

Gatineau, Quebec, December 16, 2005 -This winter, families can cozy up with CliffordTM, Emily ElizabethTM, and the gang on Birdwell Island when "Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog(tm)" comes to the Canadian Children’s Museum February 18 to Sunday, May 7, 2005. The museum is part of the Canadian Museum of Civilization located in Gatineau, Quebec. This fun-filled interactive exhibition began its travels at Minnesota Children’s Museum on Valentine’s Day two years ago and has been enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of kids since then. This is the first time the exhibition Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog will be shown in Canada.

Based on Norman Bridwell’s hugely successful 1962 Scholastic Inc. book series, Clifford the Big Red DogTM has become a household name and lovable friend in the homes of millions of families. The award winning, animated series became a top-rated television show on PBS KIDS® in the year 2000, and three years later the new spin-off Clifford’s Puppy Days(tm) brings Clifford even closer. The program continues to be watched across Canada on CBC, Telé-Quebec and via cable on PBS.

Clifford, his owner Emily Elizabeth, Howard, Samuel and his son Charlie, and all the residents of Birdwell Island come to life for children and families, in the 1500-square-foot of ‘paws-on’ exhibition. Filled with exciting educational activities that reinforce "Clifford’s Big Ideas:" share, play fair, have respect, work together, be responsible, be truthful, be kind, believe in yourself, be a good friend, and help others. It’s a ‘feel good’ exhibition for children aged 2 to 8.

Children can board the Birdwell Island Ferry and slide down Clifford’s 9-ft tail like Emily Elizabeth does on TV. Free to explore the Island, they’ll find buried treasures on T-Bone’s Beach, navigate their visit on a 3-D map, take a job in Samuel’s Restaurant, or play a role in Cleo’s Backyard Theatre complete with costumes and musical instruments. All of this and more to the sounds of seagulls and ocean waves in a colourful, child-size environment that let’s kids enter into a décor they’ve come to know and enjoy.

Families can join in the fun, exploring the 40-year retrospective of artwork and stories by the creator and award-winning author of Clifford the Big Red Dog, Norman Bridwell. A relaxing area to sit down and look at books allows young visitors to peruse the whole series of take in Clifford stories at their leisure and practice their reading.
