You can't miss them - tips and tricks on how to reduce waste and become more eco-friendly are everywhere. As such, the trend of "greening" our homes is becoming more and more popular in Canada.

One of the easiest places to start making these simple changes is in the kitchen. Things like choosing renewable floors and countertop materials, cleaning with natural products like vinegar, buying appliances that have the EnergyStar label and installing a recycling station are a few smart ways to be more eco-conscious.

With a recent breakthrough in cookware technology, "green cooking" is another way to make our kitchens more environmentally friendly. For example, a new product called GreenPan is the first environmentally friendly, non-stick cookware of its kind. Already a staple in virtually every kitchen across Europe, GreenPan frying pans are made from raw materials which are recyclable or even biodegradable. As well, the pan's non-stick, ceramic-based coating provides cooking enthusiasts with the ability to cook without scratching or overheating. In contrast to its non-stick counterparts, GreenPan cookware can sustain heat up to 450 degrees Celsius without damage or decomposition to the coating.

GreenPan is one of the most evolutionary products we've seen and raises the bar for health and safety standards across the entire cookware category. It is important for Canadians to not only feel good about what they are cooking, but also how they are cooking.
