Toronto, Ontario…Join the exciting and newest voice in the
Toronto Theatre scene, the Baobab Youth Theatre Group, on July
24th when they present African Women are as
Strong as the Baobab Tree. For one night only,
Torontonians can experience an inspirational new work by
Director Sauro Agostinho at the Glenn Gould Studio.
Julia is an African woman who has endured and survived an
abusive relationship at the hands of her husband. Forced to
provide for her family, African Women are as Strong as the
Baobab Tree is a call to arms to inspire and mobilize
women of all cultures. Although an African story, this piece
highlights serious women’s issues that are part of a universal
struggle for all women. African Women are as Strong as the
Baobab Tree will ignite hope, invoke thought, and shed
light on issues that are prevalent in all cultures.
Featuring a diverse cast of fresh Toronto talent, including:
Debbie Ecleston, Destiny De La Durantaye, René Muir, Marsha
Brown, Asina Badrua, Gilson Rodrigues, Kia Cummings and Fernanda
da Costa, this play is both laugh out loud funny, revealing and
a challenging new work.
